Paradise Island Park and Beach Resort

We’re often hard pressed to find a decent beach near the city. In Manila, we either had to drive two hours to Batangas to go to a beach. When we were in Davao, we were pleased to find out that though there’s no beach in the vicinity of the city, there is a beautiful island just 5 minutes away.

The Island Garden City of Samal is a small island just off mainland Davao. Depending on where you’re originating from and where you’re headed, the boat crossing can last all of five minutes. We were headed to the Paradise Island Park and Beach Resort, and from the Sasa port, we boarded the resort boat. For only Php 15 per person, we were able to leave the city and frolic in the sand.

Paradise Island Park and Beach Resort charges day trippers Php 100 per person, while those who wish to stay overnight have to pay Php 200 per person. Unlike other resorts, guests at Paradise Island can bring their own food. There are plenty of tables and deck chairs right by the shore, and can be used free of charge by all guests.

The beach, though not at par with Boracay nor Palawan, is pretty good, considering its location near the mainland. The waters are clean, and there are fish and corals just several meters from the shore.

For Php 130, Paradise Island Park and Beach Resort offers a great value for people looking to take a break from city life.

There aren’t much of really great beach lodgings around, what can you recommend?
